FREE Freezer to a Responsible home.

For the past two days I have noticed a different
smell in our garage.
I noted it in my mind yesterday,
and this afternoon I verbalized it out loud as we were
all coming in after running around getting a few last minute
school supplies and what not.

I said,
something smells very wrong in here.
It is different....rotten, animalish.
Ryker said, probably a dead lizard or something.
yes.....my thoughts exactly.

I came inside and started tiding this and that.
Put on a little light jazz while Kev and the boys started the grill.

Ryker comes in shortly after with a crazed grin on his face.
What?

I know what that smell is in the garage.

What?!!!!

My heart plumets.

I run outside and open the freezer.
EVERYTHING HAS THAWED.
Everything is dripping.
Ice cream tubs are bloated.
Every shelf was jam packed with food.
Goooooood food, bagged veggies,
roasts, chicken, tons of butter that I have been collecting package by
package, making our stash grow and swell.
Everything was saturated in stinking pheasant blood!

I cried my eyes out.
I ranted and raved.
I threw crap everywhere.
I insulted every member of my family on several occasions.

I am in mourning and will remain so for many days....I suspect.
I am morning for the loss of money.
I am morning for the horrible waste and irresponsible loss.
I am so disappointed.

WHY CAN SOMEONE NOT PLUG THE FREEZER BACK IN?

WHY?

why can't we use a fraction of our brains and plug the
brown plug back in?

This is NOT the first time this has happened.

We are freaking idiots.
We can no longer justify having an extra
"out in the garage freezer".
it is NOT a money saver for this family.

The freezer will be on the curb.
Come and get it if you have a responsible family that
  chooses
to use their brains.

ps - I know I am just as much to blame if not more.
I am probably more mad at myself then anyone else.
Sorry to vent on the blog.....
I do feel a little better.

Oh man, that is a crying shame! Worse than blending up non-edible air fresh packs in your favorite oatmeal cookies. Or forgetting a good friends b-day!
It reminds me slightly of this spring when Lance casually went four wheeling with the kids and ran the jeep through very deep water at high speeds sending water into the engine. Just a common (5,000 dollar) mistake that anyone could have made!!! Hallelujah for insurance! Once it had been done there was no use getting mad. But I was at work-(good luck getting you and three kids home bud!) and I cursed his name plenty while dad and I were the ones to tow the dang thing down to the shop! Aaaarrrgh!
The question I think we all have is why was the freezer ever unplugged?? Was someone charging their iPod?
I don't think Lance would put it past me to do that on purpose. He truly believes I try daily just to think of ways I could spend more money. (Hhummmmm... I could unplug the freezer!! ).
Sorry Min! That stinks in all kinds of ways!

Aim, Awesome comment. Got me cracking up a bit.....yes, we all have those days, and will continue to have them until we breath our last breath. They are the funnest stories to look back on and remember. The "good times" we will call them in a few years. They were the best of times, they were the worst of times.

Mom has been calling and keeps getting the kids. They said she is calling to make sure they are alright. Geeeeez. I called her back just now. She reminded me, that just as soon as I am over this one it will be time for the next disaster to come calling, she hoped it would be my fault the next time around. Thanks ma. She said, don't you remember our freezer fiasco? We had just purchased that whole side of beef, it was in the freezer w/ Jason Dahl's Deer meat, he accidentally took all the beef to his house and then his freezer got left unplugged by a roommate and every last scrap off their beef was ruined. They didn't get one single burger out of it!!

Thanks for the great reality check. Things are back to normal around here. All is fine in the Christensen's, 1 freezer home.

Oh yes, the freezer gets unplugged every time we use the weed eater or lawn edger. After we are through with the yard work (theoretically) we plug it back in. Setting ourselves up for disaster for sure. Certainly we could use part of our gray matter to come up with a better system.

Oh MAN!! I'm off the blog for a few days and miss out on a doosy...We have all experienced these types of disasters. I am glad you have a place to rant and to capture the story. I also think you are nutz if you just gave away your garage freezer. I hope you didn't...just don't use it for a while and see before you get rid of it. I know you will regret not having it eventually...just simmer for a bit longer before you react.

I am trying to come up with a story and the best one I have is about 1 month after I got my new car Travis closed the garage door on it, scratching the back door. I was so mad, but like Amy says...what can I do if it is already done? Then 2 weeks later I did the EXACT SAME THING - the back hatch had two twin scratches down it, side by side like two glaring reminders of the union of dumb & dumber...It is easy to say it will never happen again, but who can really tell?

I just thought of a few more...the hot tubs motor burned out because we never fixed the leak and forgot to put water in it...only $1200 to fix if we decide to.

Remember when Mel pulled into the garage with the bikes on top of the car?

Or that time Mom drove us to the library and we had forgotten to bring our books...I just threw that one in there for fun...Mom ranted/raved/cried and drove thru the parking lot like a mad woman hitting all the speed bumps at 40 MPH sending us into the roof of the car...fun but also terrifying.

You are not alone sister of mine!! I love you!! :) HB

See what I mean?.....what once seemed like the worst of times....transforms into the best of times. I have certainly given my family a memory they will remember, and make fun of for a lifetime.

Good stuff HB!
